‘Tis the Season….to have fun!

All the heavy lifting has been done on this one, all you have to do is use the app to create a fun family activity – no development skills (or purchase) required! This Scavenger Hunt is appropriate for all ages, so the Clues can be more/less complicated, depending on the age of the participants.

So why did I do this?

To make a long story short, my wife spoils my kids ( ages 15 and 9 ) with scavenger hunts during the holidays and makes them work for their presents. Whether Christmas or Easter they have now come to expect it. Therefore, a couple years ago I took it to a new level and created the FindMyPresent app for them which they have a blast doing. The only hard part is deciding on the Clues, for which we have provided a few suggestions for you below.

How do I get this Scavenger Hunt App?

First, click here to  download Claris FileMaker Go 19 from the Apple App Store on your iPhone or iPad. (We are looking to support other mobile devices in the future, however, only these are available this year.)

After that, complete the form at the end of the post with your name and email to receive the download.

Finally, once downloaded on the device, Claris FileMaker Go 19 will open the the FindMyPresent app and you are ready to go. Watch the video below to see the initial setup from downloading Claris FileMaker Go 19 and basic use of the app.

Suggestions for some Clue ideas:

Sample age 2-5: “To find your first clue, look in the machine where we wash our dishes.” (answer: Dishwasher)

Sample age 6-11: “After dinner, we have to get clean again…where do we get clean?” (answer: Dishwasher)

Sample age 12+: “No dishpan hands in this house….we have a better plan!” (answer: Dishwasher)

Not the creative type? Never fear! Google “Scavenger Hunt Riddles” and you will see TONS of ideas (For instance: for kids, around the house, for adults, outside, etc.) – find what you like and what works for your group and use those!
